Henry Hilton and Chun-Tien Daniel Huang lead Del Rio High School class of 2000 with GPAs above 6.0. Hilton, 6.203, heads to MIT to study mechanical engineering, joining his brother Eric, DRHS 1999 valedictorian, and following MIT alumnus Edgar. Huang at 6.118 is second in class as registrar releases top 20 rankings.

Rio Grande yields two bodies in river crossing
Two men drowned while trying to cross the Rio Grande with a group of five illegal immigrants. A Vega Verde resident heard cries for help and alerted authorities. Three immigrants were caught. one body was found near a home, the other downstream by a Border Patrol helicopter. Mexican Consulate officials assisted at the scene.
