UTSA president Ricardo Romo to speak at Del Rio High graduation
Del Rio High School principal Hector Montalvo announced that Ricardo Romo, UTSA president since 1999, will be the guest speaker for this year’s commencement on Friday May 26. Romo, born in San Antonio, is a noted urban historian with degrees from UT Austin Loyola Marymount and UCLA, and has held significant academic leadership roles.

California couple joins Birdwalk below Amistad Dam
Sue and Clair de Beauvoir of Los Angeles joined a National Park Service led Birdwalk near Amistad Dam in Del Rio. Other participants included Vern Hayes Gene and Jane Morain Edith Black and Ethan Kimbr o ugh with guide Eric Finkelstein. Birds noted were Lesser Goldfinches Western Kingbirds Cliff and Barn Swallows Bronzed Cowbirds Rock and Canyon Wrens and an unfamiliar oriole. The walk explored a restricted area from the dam to the first weir along the Rio Grande.
