Del Rio Weather Sees Cooler Temps With Mild Northwest Winds
National Weather Service forecasts show cooler, fair conditions for Del Rio today and tonight with light to variable winds. Overnight lows expected in the low 60s, highs in the mid 80s today and Wednesday, with record highs and lows noted for May 19. Extended outlook calls for partly cloudy skies and a chance of thundershowers Friday and Saturday across South and West Texas, with upper 60s to mid 70s overnight and 80s to 90s days.

Firemen Fight Two Vehicle Fires In Town
Firemen from the G W Cox Memorial Station battled two vehicle fires Monday afternoon and evening. At 12:30 p.m. an electrical short in a General Telephone van sparked a blaze in the engine area owned by Margaret Martinez. Around 10 p.m. a carburetor backfire ignited wiring in a pickup owned by Joan Arreola. Six firefighters responded to Braun Street and Avenue U and returned to the station after about 15 minutes, Battalion Chief Irving A. Tyler said.

Amistad Water Release Reduced By IBWC
The International Boundary and Water Commission cut Amistad Dam downstream flow to 706 cubic feet per second on Monday at 1 p.m. in response to Texas water resources requests for downstream irrigation and domestic uses. The impounded waters are managed as an international project by the United States and Mexico, with either country able to request releases. The prior release was 1,253 cfs.
