The Comstock Station hosts a 6 p.m. town hall at the Comstock Volunteer Fire Department with public Q and A about Border Patrol in conjunction with a fundraiser for Comstock graduating seniors. Barbecue brisket beans hominy and potato salad will support scholarships.
New Mexico Land Commissioner Patrick Lyons halted an unauthorized dig on state trust land west of Hobbs where workers tied to a former Enron subsidiary excavated a two acre site with a 40 to 50 foot deep hole. EOTT Energy Partners LLC spokeswomen said they sought buried documents on the land while holding pipeline and grazing leases.
After deliberating nearly a day and a half, a jury found 35 year old Juan Manuel Fonseca guilty of manslaughter for stabbing Martin Aguilera during a March 22 2002 altercation at a motel kitchenette. jurors recommended 20 years in prison and a 9500 dollar fine. District Attorney Fred Hernandez called the verdict appropriate and said it may help the Aguilera family find closure.
Nearly 60 volunteers from Val Verde County joined the Muscular Dystrophy Association fundraiser as deputies arrested them for a day at Chili's. Participants served time to raise 1500 in bail, with donations supporting MDA programs and research. Deputy Jesse Garcia conducted the mock arrest.

The Promotions Committee unveiled destination downtown DEL RIO Volume 1 Issue 1 a four page newsletter to inform businesses offices churches and schools about the program.
