The second Star Wars prequel hits theaters with a midnight Del Rio screening drawing 100 plus fans. Hayden Christensen grows into Anakin Skywalker while Natalie Portman’s Padme faces danger as Obi Wan Kenobi pursues a mysterious plot. Fans queued hours early, with lines forming at 9 p.m. and long-sought interest from veterans and newcomers alike.
Del Rio Police Chief Manuel Herrera presided over a ceremony at the Del Rio Civic Center to recognize the 1500 patrol shift for outstanding achievement from January 26 to March 22. The honors included 10 attestations, seven search warrants, two arrests for forgery, and significant drug seizures.
About 100 Border Patrol agents and equal number of civilian employees plus guests gathered at the Del Rio Sector HQ for a National Police Week Commemoration. Chief Paul Berg recalled 230 officers died in 2001 with 72 at the World Trade Center, and Del Rio Mayor Dora Alcala praised the agents and their service after Berg spoke.
