Shumla School Hosts Marion Russell Students for Day of Hands On Learning
A misty Friday morning found Shumla School hosting Marion Middle School students for a field trip. Ernest Martinez and 115 sixth graders explored ancient hunter gatherer life with hands on stations across five desert learning points including bone and fiber arts, paint making, fire starting, atlatl throwing, and oven cooking. Dr. Carolyn Boyd leads the program with volunteers from Kinkaid School and Amistad National Recreation Area aiding the group in a day of education and exploration.
