Suspected smuggler to be arraigned in Texas
Garland man Juan Ramirez Ramirez, 38, was arrested after Border Patrol officers stopped a pickup on Hamilton Lane and found 11 Mexican aliens hidden in the bed. The aliens said they were being transported for 400 dollars each. Ramirez faces smuggling and transporting aliens charges and will be arraigned before U.S. Magistrate Durwood Edwards. Garland police plan to seek additional charges for a prohibited weapon found on Ramirez.

Police reports show Del Rio residents and firms suffered about 1382.65 in losses since Tuesday. Leonard J. Piekarski said burglars struck a Buena Vista Development Co trailer at 100 Maude Lane between Wednesday 4 p.m. and Thursday 3:30 a.m., stealing property valued around 680 dollars. Other losses included four wire hubcaps worth 400 from a Tomahawk Trail auto, a vandalized Roger Hopkins Real Estate window with 134.40 damage, and three juveniles taking 33.25 in merchandise from an H E B store.
