Official canvass of the vote from Saturday's Democratic primary is set for 4 30 p m in the county courtroom. Dorothy Gurley county Democratic chairman called the statutory meeting of the Val Verde County Democratic Executive Committee for this purpose. A re check showed discrepancies in the unofficial tally but none affects final results. Box by box tabulations will be re printed after the canvass. Final figures show Harold Reed winning the Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 race with 1310 total after absentee additions.

Man Injured in Motorcycle Mishap Near City Intersection
A 33 year old Del Rio man was treated for head injuries after a motorcycle collided with a taxi at the intersection of Avenue F and King's Way on US Highway 90 West. John Stavely of 220 Elizabeth Drive was in the ICU at Val Verde Memorial Hospital after the 12:22 p.m. crash. Investigating officer Jeff Francis could not be reached for details before press time.

Nelson Wolff wins Democratic primary without runoff
Nelson Wolff led the 21st Congressional District with 51 percent and 47,641 votes, defeating Woodrow Glasscock and others to avoid a runoff. In District 70, State Rep. Susan Gurley McBee clinched the nomination over Mario Torres with 9,554 to 3,375, carrying all nine counties including Val Verde and Brewster.
