Cauthorn Pioneer Dies at 83 in San Antonio Area
Virgil V. Cauthorn 83, rancher and longtime Wool and Mohair Co. president, died May 3 2000. Survived by second wife Dorothy, children Drew Elizabeth Cauthorn and Bob Sandra Cauthorn, plus numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Born March 17 1917 on a Sonora ranch, he led livestock groups and earned the Fred Barwood Award in 1979. Pallbearers include grandsons Clay Graham Patrick Cauthorn and Jeff Ross.

Life sentence for Santiago Lomas in girlfriend murder
A state district jury sentenced Santiago Jimmy Lomas to life in prison for the murder of his girlfriend Magdalena Castillo. Her sister Alta Garcia said justice was done and the state did a great job presenting the case as the family cried. The DA urged a term between 15 and 99 years.
