Del Rio firefighters used backfire tactics to halt a wind fueled cane field blaze on private property near Cienegas Road. Five units and 17 men fought the 1:45 p.m. fire that moved southeast a mile and three quarters upriver from Capitol Aggregates, with flames reaching about 100 feet high. a small shed suffered partial damage but no homes were harmed.
