Mosquito Control Talks Focus on Torres Pond Area

Del Rio officials opened plans to curb mosquitoes as warm weather returns. City Council discussed persistent swarms near King Charles Place and the Torres Pond behind Quality Inn and Suites, urging improved drainage to remove standing water after rain. Council member John Sheedy led the discussion and called for quick action from staff.

Problems with police station revealed

City officials discussed extensive ongoing issues with the new police station building. Assistant City Engineer Matthew Rector traced construction history from 2008 contract to 2010 move, noting a warranty year after final acceptance, which he argues occurred with the 2015 final payment. New Del Rio shop spotlights local and global crafts

A collective of artists opens The Lemon Drop on Avenue 6 across from Fallas parking lot in Del Rio. Owner Ashley Trevisio curates mostly local work, from dresses she designs to vintage pieces, with international items and graphic art decals.
