Two county residents fight off rabid animals near Pumpville
Two Val Verde County men survived rabies exposure after encounters with rabid bobcats. Travis Parker, 23, fought a crazed cat near Pumpville on Jan 7 while Eddy Wentwin, 53, wrestled a rabid bobcat near Del Rio five miles north of town in March. Both cats tested positive for rabies. Wentin required a month long vaccine series with injections in legs arms and buttocks. Ted Rathke, TDH official, confirmed rabies after testing heads.
