Del Rio DECA student earns national competition berth
Valeska Hernandez, a first time DECA entrant from Del Rio High School, earned a chance to compete for national honors in Louisville. She was among eight district winners at District 2 in San Antonio and, with a four month research manual, is the sole Texas participant at the state level in Corpus Christi. Her sponsor, Rudy Fernandez, and his daughter will accompany her for the national event. District 2 covers about 27 counties including Eagle Pass and San Antonio with roughly 600 district entrants and 2,500 Texas contestants overall.
