Gallego Reiterates Texas Independence Day Support at Del Rio School
State Rep Pete P Gallego visited Del Rio Middle School to respond to seventh grade letters about why Texas Independence Day on March 2 is not a state holiday. He explained statewide recognition exists with festivals in San Antonio Austin and San Jacinto and urged more letters to city leaders and the school board. He praised the students for their effort and said he would answer each letter personally.

FCC lifts ban on Biotronik heart monitoring device
Federal regulators ruled the Biotronik portable messenger, a heart monitoring system linking a pacemaker to a pager like transmitter, poses no harm. Japanese pilot Yuko Shibata trains in the United States
Yuko Shibata, 25, the first female flyer to come to the U.S. for pilot training, is hosted by the U.S. Air Force. A Nagoya native, she enrolled at Lackland AFB in January and visited Del Rio with hosts Paul and Kyoko Kaiser. Her stays include Laughlin AFB and travel to Italy, Canada and Australia.
