William K Gooding a 56 year old mason and Val Verde lodge officer died suddenly Saturday in a local hospital apparently of a heart attack while en route to an installation service with Simon Shaw Jr Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery with the Doran Funeral Home in charge He was born July 3 1912 in Sabinal and moved to Del Rio 23 years ago Survivors include his widow two daughters three grandchildren a brother and two nephews

Requiem Mass will be held at 4 p.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church for Mrs Mariana G. Jimenez 74 who died Friday evening at her Del Rio home. Born May 18, 1895 in Mexico she lived here many years. Survivors include a sister three nieces and three nephews. Burial in San Felipe Cemetery under Don's Funeral Chapels direction.

Historical Site Tour Raises Funds for Whitehead Museum
Fifteen historical sites were visited Sunday from 2 to 5 pm on the citys first historical tour to raise money for the Whitehead Memorial Museum. The stroll began at the museum and included eight homes three of which opened inside and out, plus Val Verde Court house old jail Val Verde Winery Ross Drug Store and La Grande Restaurant. Mrs John M Jones Jr chair of the museum commission thanked owners and businesspeople for cooperating and said the tour was highly successful with praise for the pleasant commute and enthusiasm. A spring tour is already planned with details to follow.
