The stock market rose modestly in New York as rates again fell. The Dow Jones industrial average gained 4.22 points to 1,884.42 by 11 a.m., near its June 6 record close of 1,885.90, while gainers slightly outpaced decliners among NYSE listings.
Del Rio High School graduates plan a 40 year reunion weekend with Holiday Inn as headquarters. Activities include a Dutch treat dinner at Wrights Steak House, a Saturday tour of the old school, a social barbecue and dance, and Sunday morning photos in the Holiday Inn lobby.
Community notices show Bible School director Rachel Tovar. a free bird program by the National Park Service at Governor's Landing on Lake Amistad tonight at 9. Quemado Valley Lodge 92 hosts a Sunday fish fry 12 to 2 at the Community Building. Antonio and Aida Rodriguez visit Grace Milner in Del Rio. Aida is R.O. Hernandez’s daughter. Del Rio Lions Club hosts a family picnic Saturday at Lions Park. United Civic Organization discusses July 4 plans tonight in UCO Hall at 7:30 led by Mike Fernandez.
Ralph Silas reports damage to his vehicle and the theft of an AM FM cassette deck totaling 800 dollars between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. Lico Gonzalez notes tree removals in Buena Vista Park with 270 dollars in damage. Sylvia Trevino reports theft of a color TV and cassette deck from her home between June 16 and 26 totaling 500 dollars. Guadalupe Hernandez yields multiple high value items totaling 3450 dollars taken at 6 19 p m Thursday. two arrests followed. Crincela Nunez reports theft of a cassette deck AM FM stereo with turntable and equalizer and her vehicle valued at 2000 dollars between 1 p m Wednesday and 10 30 p m Thursday.
Multiple theft reports across residences and vehicles with items ranging from radios to sewing machines and VCRs totaling about 225 to 971 dollars. A series of traffic incidents included a collision at Chevrolet Drive and Avenue F with injuries and citations for public intoxication and no license. Vehicle stops, belt use, and minor injuries noted.
Del Rio High School Class of 1946 reunion continues through Sunday with contacts. Other events include Overeaters Anonymous at Laughlin AFB Family Support Center, United Civic Organization meeting, Falcon Square Dance Club at Recreation Center Laughlin AFB, National Park Service free program at Governer's Landing weather permitting, Saturday worship services, Del Rio High School Class of 1981 reunion contact, American GI Forum fundraiser, Cactus Twirlers Square Dancers at 1305 East First Street.
Alfredo Jasso 51 dies in Waxahachie Texas and will be buried at Oak Lawn Memorial Park after a 11 a.m. funeral at Assembly of God on West Martin Street. He lived at 1006 Dignowity Street. Survivors include wife Anita and numerous children, siblings, and grandchildren across Texas and California.
