Ex-Marine and salesman to face judge over Piedras Negras jail raid
Ex-Marine Donald Fielden and Dallas salesman William Hill Jr are to appear before U.S. District Judge John H. Wood Jr. on charges of illegally importing a firearm to Mexico in connection with the Piedras Negras jail assault that freed 14 American prisoners on March 12. Prosecutors say a 12 gauge shotgun was used and taken from Eagle Pass to Piedras Negras during the raid. Fielden, a Vietnam veteran with no prior felonies, led a trio of armed men who attacked jail police earlier that morning.

Corley seeks challenge to Democratic delegate seat
Midland businessman Bob Corley will file a legal challenge Monday over the seating of Delia Gonsalez as a Democratic National Convention delegate. Corley argues Carmen Gutierrez from Del Rio was ineligible due to Mexican citizenship, so Corley would be the fourth-place finisher if Gutierrez’s votes are not counted.
