New York AP reports a broad market gain as investors cling to hopes for lower interest rates. The Dow Jones industrial average gains 10.88 to 1,886.43 by 11 a.m., moving past the prior record closing high of 1,885.90 set on June 6.
Registration runs June 23 to July 11 with the program from July 14 to August 15 for children ages 4 to 12. Ages 4 5 meet Wednesdays at 10 00, ages 8 to 8 meet Mondays at 10 00, and ages 9 to 12 meet Thursdays at 10 00. Sign up at Spring and Washington Streets corner. Del Rio teacher and coach Rudy Rodriguez was one of 16 Del Rioans chosen for a party scene in No Safe Haven filmed at Alamo Village. His role includes hugging the drug lord and saying muchas gracias before driving off in a car that explodes. The Del Rio Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Del Rio Fire Puppies won a state championship in Austin, the first in the group’s history, at a June 14 competition.

Ernesto Valdez of Del Rio reported two tires punctured while his vehicle was parked at 129 Encinal St between 11 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 a.m. Monday. At 12:15 p.m. Monday, Augustina Zavala De Garza of Ciudad Acuna and Rosa Villarreal of Illinois backed into each other in the HEB lot. At 11:06 a.m. Monday Hortenisa Cardenas Valdez turned from Avenue F into Simply Beautiful as Elida Lopez Pena followed, causing a collision in which Pena sustained a nonincapacitating injury and was taken to Val Verde Memorial Hospital by EMS.
U S District Judge William s Seasions ties two cases this week in federal court over false statements to acquire firearms. Jose Luis Ruiz, 25, of Eagle Pass, is charged with two counts of making false statements and misrepresenting probation status at Heslers Store. Jorge Aguilar, 28, of Piedras Negras, faces two counts tied to residency. Both seek up to five years prison and 250000 dollars fine per count. trial results expected by week’s end.
