Bombers Strike Moc Chau Barracks Near Hanoi
U S Navy jets conducted two bombing raids on Moc Chau army barracks 80 miles southwest of Hanoi as more than 200 Viet Cong were killed in ground fighting. The sorties totaled 52 with a 15 minute initial strike by A4 Skyhawks and F8 Crusaders supported by rockets and cannons.

Major Highways Open After Tuesday Downpours
Heavy rains across the Devil's River and Nueces watersheds flooded draws and low crossings. By Tuesday night two state highways and five ranch to market roads remained closed, with U S Highway 277 South reopened early today. State 163 in Val Verde and State 5S in Uvalde remained closed, as well as R M 2523 in Edwards County and several other ranch to market routes in Kinney and Real counties. Five inches fell at Loma Alta store and up to nine inches locally, with Devil's River cresting around 6.1 feet at Baker's Crossing two hours after 7:15 am. See HIGHWAYS-Page 2.

The Texas Highway Commission opened bids on September 7 for road and construction projects in Val Verde County totaling 7,488,612 dollars.
