Cattle Feeders Rise Despite Slaughter Market Jump
Texas Agricultural Statistics Service reports 227 million cattle and calves on feed for slaughter in June, up 10 percent from last year and the largest June total on record. May placements reached 640 thousand head, 23 percent above last year, with commercial feeders in the six states totaling 3.59 million head on feed in June, a 9 percent rise from May and the largest June figure since 1975.
