Fiesta Amistad fundraiser dance in Del Rio set tonight

The International Good Neighbor Committee hosts a benefit dance at the corner of Pecan and Losoya from 7 30 p m to midnight with the Bob Gray Band. Coors and Budweiser support sales of fajitas and drinks to fund the Fiesta Amistad in October and the Miss Del Rio Pageant during the Fiesta celebration.

Four Marine reservists parachute to safety after Phantom crash

Four Marine Corps reservists from Dallas based VMF A Squadron 112 survived a mid air collision near Morgan Mill Erath County Texas. They were hospitalized in good condition for observation and treatment. The rescuers included Maj F W Rademacher Maj J B Stover Maj J W Sluder and Maj J R Branch. A Naval Safety Center team in Norfolk investigates the cause as debris from two multi million dollar jets littered a half mile area.

Cisco Officer Cleared in Serial Arson Probe

Cisco Texas AP report says officer R D Kirkland was cleared after a polygraph test of involvement in arson fires since June 10. Sheriff Don Underwood noted no knowledge of Kirkland’s participation and no word on reinstatement as police chief Billy Rains could not be reached. A nearby house fire early Friday was ruled accidental.

Crane officer honored for aiding elderly man in 1400 mile homeward trek

Stolen dog and vehicles reported in local theft roundup

Multiple thefts and incidents reported across the city include Eduardo Ramirez Jr.’s pit bull taken from 401 Graham St between 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, a car theft from 405 Linda Vista St between 1 and 2 a.m. Friday valued at $1,200, and tire theft from 108 La Grande Sr. valued at $400. Others include wheel covers and emblems stolen at Plaza del Sol Mall, a vehicle valued at $5,000 stolen from Super M, and several traffic collisions with citations issued. arrests include Luis Ricardo Barajas on a felony theft warrant and Claude Morgan Gray on sexual assault charges.
