Guerra Given 25 Year Term In Locker Slaying
A 17-year-old San Antonio youth received a 25 year prison sentence for the shooting death of Texas Highway Patrolman Travis Locker on Interstate 35 near Waxahachie. The jury found Amadeo Sonny Guerra guilty after more than an hour of deliberation. Two other youths faced separate trials for the case, including Felipe Orta who was sentenced to five years for murder without malice.

School Board Set to Meet Monday in Del Rio
The Del Rio Independent School Board will meet Monday at 8 p.m. in the superintendent's office. On the agenda are a district immunization policy, the 1969-70 financial audit, and tuition recommendations for nonresident students. Reports from tax equalization and federal programs for 1970-71 will be heard along with letters on broadcasting sports, TEA, 1968-69 audit, and rental of St. Joseph School facilities. A budget hearing date is to be set, with July 6 recommended. Photographs for the high school yearbook will be taken at the meeting.

Sgt Earnest Pena killed in Panama
Sgt Earnest F. Pena, 42, died Thursday in Panama from accident injuries while serving abroad. Survived by widow Alicia Pena, daughter Maria Pena of Del Rio, and several other relatives. Pena was a 24-year Army veteran with service in World War II Korea and Vietnam and had been in Panama 16 months. Funeral plans not yet announced.
