Tropical storm arlene may threaten Del Rio Gulf coast
National Weather Service meteorologist Dan Koch warns a tropical cyclone could strengthen into a tropical storm named Arlene and approach near Brownsville within 48 hours with 65 to 70 mph winds before landfall. Heavy rain possible for Val Verde County with unpredictable track late Sunday night into Monday.

Russell Craft and his wife Raenell commit to Del Rio after moving from Longview in 1986 to establish Del Rio Christian Fellowship at 732 S Main St. Craft, born in Lubbock and raised in Marshall, earned a pharmacy degree in 1962 and spent years in retail practice before answering the pastor call in 1975. He helped found Longview Christian Fellowship and now serves in local service groups here.
