Two bodies found in the Rio Grande
A Border Patrol search recovered two bodies downstream from Amistad Dam near the Rio Grande. The first was identified as 23 year old Javier Lozano of Del Rio, drowned after crossing to the US side during a family outing. The second body, unidentified, was found near the International Bridge with help from locals on the Mexican side.

San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated Independent School District trustees heard results from the Texas Assessment of Basic Skills tests given to fifth and ninth graders last March. Fifth grade math 30 percent mastery, reading 24, writing 63. Ninth grade math 57, reading 49, writing 39. Memorial Elementary highest campus on several metrics. North Heights and Garfield varied. District averages show strengths in addition and place value, with multiply and division mastery around the 40s to 60s range depending on campus.
