Steve Webb has been promoted from patrolman to sergeant in Del Rio Police Department. He was notified this week after taking the sergeant exam earlier this year and follows Sgt. Arnaldo Ramos who resigned. Webb, 33, a 1970 Irvin High School grad, also trained at Middle Rio Grande Law Enforcement Academy and served four years in the Air Force. He and his wife Cynthia have two children. Del Rio PD is currently four patrolmen short.
Patrick and Patricia Rios welcomed four babies after a Monday Caesarean at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio. The quadruplets Michael Errin, Matthew Elliot, Catherine Lee and Lauren Maric weighed 2 to 3 pounds and were eight weeks premature. All were in good condition and breathing independently. The mother had been on fertility medication after years of difficulty conceiving.
An Austin jury found Mack Trucks and Wagner Electronics Corp guilty of gross negligence in selling a truck with a defective brake valve. Ginnie Davis, whose son Wayne Ramirez died in a 1981 crash, will receive about 9.5 million if upheld on appeal after a last minute settlement. The verdict, Travis County’s largest ever, followed evidence of long known brake valve problems.

Shirley Farrar of 500 Ave A reported a $20 hubcap stolen from her vehicle between Tuesday midnight and Thursday 5 pm while parked outside her home. Dora Salinas of 141 Garden Crest said a $70 black and white TV was taken from her home Thursday.
