Stocks in New York firmed late morning as investors parsed mixed U.S. economic data showing ongoing weakness. The Dow Jones industrial average stood at 1,843.41, down 2.96 points at 12 noon EDT after slipping earlier.
Ex tension Home Economies Committee will sponsor a program on Creative Summer Parenting by Judy Ford. The free event begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, in the Dink Wardlaw Agricultural Complex. Everyone is invited.

Zina and Ernest L Worley Jr received the Community Pride plaque at the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce directors meeting. Elwanda Cambera, committee chair, highlighted their humanitarian work above and beyond the call of duty at the San Felipe Country Club noon ceremony.

In a Del Rio News-Herald item, Mayor Hugh Williams clarified that Ignacio Urrabazo was commended for 28 years of service to the Del Rio Water Department, not the mayor for service to the department. The correction notes Urrabazo’s retirement and long tenure.
