Wall Street advanced as the Dow Jones industrial average rose 6.83 to 2,360.44 in the first half hour. Gainers led 641 to 413 on the NYSE with 406 unchanged as volume reached 22.70 million shares at 10 a.m. Open market rates slipped.

Francisco Martinez Jr 62 died at Val Verde Memorial Hospital. Funeral rites Saturday at St. Joseph's Church with burial at Oak Lawn Memorial Park. military honors by San Felipe Del Rio Honor Guard. Also memorial for Ascencio Nava Constancio 74, a retired construction worker, with rites at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and San Felipe Cemetery.
Elvira Urby Hernandez 65 of Lubbock died Wednesday afternoon at Methodist Hospital. Rites set Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church Del Rio with Rev. Adolph Kaler officiating. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery by North Park Mortuary. Survived by husband Manuel Hernandez, a son Luis Estrada, daughters Irma Rubio Elvia Gomez and Juanita Gill, brothers Juan A Urby Jesus Urby Rodolfo Urby Heriberto Urby Jose Luis Urby, sisters Hortencia Maldonado Maria Luisa Figueroa Yolanda Urrabazo, nine grandchildren two great-grandchildren.

McDougal has won over 30 prizes in local and national juried competitions. He is featured in The Hill Country Impressions of 13 Artists (1981) and appears in a 1983 Texas A&M University Press book on the Big Bend. He belongs to several art societies and groups in Texas. In 1979 he was named San Antonio Artist of the Year.
