Man trapped two days in basement with corpse

Rodney Goodman, unemployed and seeking work, fell through a missing floor in a house and landed in a basement where he found the outline of a body. A passerby heard his cries on Wednesday and alerted police. Goodman was in fair condition at a hospital.

Barrera suspension upheld by Civil Service Commission

The Civil Service Commission upheld a three day suspension without pay and an 180 day probation for Del Rio Police Lt. Felix Barrera Jr after tardiness on April 3 8 and absence on April 17. Chief Charlie Bruce and Capt. Dan Cruz testified Barrera had been counseled previously. Barrera argued the penalty was excessive while Cruz said he and Garcia assisted during the April 17 incident leaving the station in Barrera’s absence.
