Dias de Compania Slated in Del Rio for Mexican Delegation
More than 90 people from three Mexican cities inform the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce they will attend the Dias de Compania event in Del Rio Friday and Saturday. The Merchants Committee sponsors the two day gathering inviting representatives from nine Mexican cities for a social get together highlighted by a Saturday night dance at the Del Rio Civic Center. Officials plan a free barbecue a tour of the Amistad Dam Laughlin AFB and other city sites plus two free time sessions for visitors to shop. The event aims to foster good will with social civic officials and dignitaries invited. Cities listed include Nueva Rosita Sebinas and six others Allende Zara Morales Muzquiz Piedras Monclova. Local merchants will use greeting signs for the delegation. A coffee session opens at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the civic center followed by a Laughlin tour at 10 a.m. and a 7 p.m. barbecue at Moore Park. Industrial military sites blasted by U S forces in Viet Nam
UPI report from Saigon says waves of U S planes bombed military targets in North Viet Nam and struck an industrial target 80 miles south of Hanoi. In the south, 77 guerrillas were killed and 28 captured while nine Americans were wounded in clashes from Da Nang to the Mekong delta.

Laughlin Officer Honored For Heroic Rescue Of Del Rio Driver
Two men rescued William E. Cook of Del Rio from a washed out low water crossing near Loma Alta on May 28. One rescuer, 2nd Lt. H. James Smith of Laughlin AFB, later identified, a 1964 Air Force Academy graduate from Middletown, now in T-38 training at Laughlin. The second rescuer remained unidentified. Cook thanked his rescuers and was taken to a San Angelo hospital.
