Lions Convention Closes With Banquet Plans Site For Next Year
The Lions Convention ended with a banquet announcing Laredo as next year's site and adoption of an eye bank project in San Antonio. W G Coldeway Jr was elected director of the Kerrville Crippled Children's Camp. Bird urged cultural exchange between North and South America and spoke of a healthy Texas Lions chapter and support for Kerrville camp. Miss Jill Carol Thrift named runner up to Miss Watterson as district queen with Patsy Peters as Miss Congeniality. The convention opened with a governors reception and golf at San Felipe Country Club.

Ground controllers considered letting McDivitt and co pilot Edward report sighting a satellite seen at 10 38 p m EDT while Gemini 4 swept the north Pacific on its 38th orbit. A tracking ship relayed the sighting with no immediate identification.

Youth Corps offers summer city jobs for needy students
Applications remain open for the Neighborhood Youth Corps providing ten weeks of paid work at one dollar an hour for high school boys and girls. Work includes filling posts along city grounds, beautification in parks, and city maintenance with possible placements in police and hospital agencies. Counseling and career guidance are included to encourage continued education. Lectures by local professionals will augment the Fridays.

Dravo Wins Amistad Contract for Gate Hoists
Dravo Corporation of Pittsburgh has won a contract to fabricate about 700 tons of steel gate hoists for Amistad Dam on the Rio Grande. Hoists cover four penstock gates two irrigation gates and 16 tainter gate sets with delivery mid 1966 for penstock irrigation and early 1967 for taint er gates. The dam cost is around 78 million dollars shared by the United States and Mexico under the International Boundary and Water Commission.
