Apprehensions of illegal aliens rise in Del Rio sector May
Del Rio sector Border Patrol data show May apprehensions at 3,980, about 600 below April but 20 percent above a year earlier. IRCA fallout and amnesty programs pushed more aliens into permanent status while enforcement numbers shifted. Policy locks in at will employment in Val Verde County
Ninety nine percent of the Val Verde County workforce has signed the at will personnel policy explaining that employment may be terminated at any time for any legal reason or for no reason. Dorothy Davis and her husband Jack plan a wide US trip to mark visiting all states. A longtime employee of the U S Customs Service they retired three years ago after 47 years as a secretary. They have lived in Del Rio since 1959 and built their home in 1961. The couple has three children and three grandchildren.
