Dead End Kids star Leo Gorcey dies at 52 in California
Film icon Leo Gorcey of the Dead End Kids, later famed for the Samuel Goldwyn film version of the play and a string of related images, died Monday in Merritt Hospital Oakland at age 52. He leaves widow Mary Gannon, two daughters Jan Reed and Brandy Jo Gorcey, and a son Leo Gorcey Jr. Funeral services will be in Red Bluff with burial at Los Molinos.

Last of Six Cubans' Bodies Found in River
The last body of a six member Cuban family was recovered from the Rio Grande after a failed illegal entry from Mexico. Marcos Estrada, 70, drowned when their boat struck a rock and capsized while the others swam ashore. Valenta Estrada, about 53, was the fifth body found near La Joya. The victims include the Estradas son in law surnamed Torres, his wife, and the couple's two teenage daughters. One cousin faces negligent homicide charges. another cousin remains at large.
