Federal Officials Inspect Del Rio School Case On Civil Rights

A three member HEW Office of Civil Rights team arrived in Del Rio to conduct a fact finding mission on Title VI compliance and HEW rules for schools receiving federal funds. They will study records, minutes, maps, and back issues to assess the district's actions amid ongoing questions about school consolidation and Mexican American student transfers.

Langtry Comstock School Consolidation Vote Planned

An election on merging Langtry and Comstock Independent School Districts is set for June 15 with polling in both communities. petitions circulated yielded 28 signatures in Langtry and 24 in Comstock. Transportation burden and facility limits cited. merger would require approval from both districts and the county judge.

Mr. and Mrs. Warren Billings announce the birth of a son Adrian Nelson Billings in Val Verde Memorial Hospital. He weighs 7 pounds. Man Sought To Help Identify Dog After Bite

A 6 year old girl Beverly Krob was bitten on the hand by a big brown dog near East Side Elementary School. A passerby chased the dog away and is being sought to identify the dog for vaccination and reports. The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon between 2 30 and 3 o'clock. San Felipe Names Equalization Board and Key Faculty

Amistad elevation this morning stood at 1057.91 feet, down from Tuesday. Water depth at the dam was 157.54 feet, down 0.54. Water storage reached 954,004 acre feet, down 12,767. Water surface covered 23,497 acres, down 292. Downstream release was 8,470 cubic feet per second, below Tuesday's 8,510 cfs.

General Charged In Viet Nam Murders

The Army charged Brig. Gen. John W. Donaldson with murder and assault in eight Vietnam civilians. The 47-year-old West Point graduate, then a colonel commanding the 1st Infantry Brigade, faces charges for incidents in Quang Ngai Province between November 1968 and January 1969 tied to the My Lai area.
