Admits Attack On Clergyman And Family
P Cedric Carpenter, 27 year old former Navy boxer, confessed to beating and injuring Rev Nicholas Shepler, his wife, and daughter Evelyn in Groton Connecticut. He could not explain motive as he awaits arraignment on a change of assault with intent to kill. All three victims remained in critical to serious condition. carpenter denied bail of 89000. Police reported the confession yesterday while detailing the break in at the Shepler home Wednesday dawn attack with a heavy tool and shirt caught in the act. The victims were admitted to New London hospital in similar conditions to Wednesday.
