The City of Del Rio Water and Waste Water Department activates the Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan effective July 14. Severe Conditions Protocol requires continuation of actions from milder stages, adds a $4 per 1,000 gallons user surcharge, and orders cessation of all lawn watering.
Del Rio sponsors National Night Out slated for August 1 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Star Park. Police officers Crosby and Wilson urge residents to join neighbors, learn home and neighborhood safety, and unite with businesses and agencies backing the effort across the city.
Del Rio Texas will discuss possible legal action concerning Florencio Sauceda the former city manager in a regular meeting Tuesday. Sauceda was fired by a 4-3 vote after a lengthy executive session with details including prior threats by his attorney. The agenda also includes acting city manager items and several resolutions, plus recognitions and a public hearing on a zoning change for Braddie Lowe Estates.
Susie Jechow of Val Verde Regional Medical Center was selected from 550 applicants to join 11 other EMS professionals at EXPO 2000 in Hannover Germany. The delegates toured training sites and hospitals, worked two 24 hour EMS shifts, and observed German responder practices including a Level 1 trauma center physician response.
Stage Stores announced that 80 percent of its 591 stores will stay open including Bealls Palais Royale and King George area units. 471 stores remain open as it seeks reorganization in U S Bankruptcy Court with a three year 450 million debtor in possession credit facility from CITICORP USA to restock.
Texas comptroller announces a three day Sales Tax Holiday from Aug 4 to 6. Most clothing and footwear under $100 are tax free with no limit on items. Athletic wear often worn as street wear qualifies, while accessories like jewelry and bags do not. Layaway items may be taken out later tax free. Local opt outs include Sunset Valley.
