Altizer Set to be Up and Around After Surgery
Mack Altizer owner of Del Rio s Bad Company Rodeo underwent a successful operation for three fractured vertebrae. Bad Company office reports he is expected to be up and around today and could leave Baylor Medical Center in Dallas in a few days after a pool accident that sent him from Midland for treatment.

Fire Leaves Family Homeless After Trailer Blaze
A Cienegas Ter race area family loses their home in a Tuesday afternoon fire caused by an electrical short in a trailer laundry area. Neighbors called 911. 22 fire personnel, three engines, and two additional vehicles responded. The adjacent two story house was gutted, leaving only a shell. Relatives and church groups, Red Cross, Salvation Army, and El Tabernaculo Temple have provided clothing and aid. The family plans to rebuild and seeks clothing, debris removal help, and community support.

Red Cross to offer Ready Texans disaster training in Del Rio
The American Red Cross will run a free two day disaster training workshop at the Eagle Room on July 21 and 22 to create Ready Texans. State employees who complete CPR first aid and emergency assistance training can earn up to five days disaster leave. Del Rio has no Ready Texans yet but interest is rising locally. The second class, Emergency Assistance to Families II, will follow.

Architects present wares for public school board meeting deliberations
The San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated ISD Board of Trustees heard four architecture firms present designs for a new 7th and 8th grade campus and other bond funded projects totaling 29.5 million dollars. The board postponed choosing a designer and unanimously hired Keith Southerland as chief financial officer at 80 000 dollars for 12 months after a 30 minute executive session. Southerland, formerly with Ricardo ISD, brings 15 years audit and finance experience to oversee purchasing investing accounting and payroll.
