Jury Awards Nearly 4.4 Million in Zapata Death Case
A Tarrant County jury held three doctors partially responsible for the 1997 death of Raynaldo Zapata after a heart attack. Cochrum and Staniland each 35 percent liable, Pratho 30 percent. Zapata, 49, collapsed after work May 27, 1997, eight days after hospital treatment for neck and chest pain.

Jury exonerates Del Rio man in cocaine delivery case
A 36 year old Del Rio resident Michael Tovar was found not guilty by a 12 person jury in the 63rd Judicial District Court after a trial that began Monday. The state rested without evidence and the defense rested before the not guilty verdict. The judge, Senior Judge George M. Thurmond, discharged the jury and signed a judgment of acquittal.

AFV and RCC opens new Del Rio office with ribbon cutting
AFV and RCC celebrated a ribbon cutting Friday at its new Del Rio facility at 100 Center Drive with Red Ribbon Ambassadors and city officials in attendance. Brown becomes Army's first woman air defense artillery brigade commander
Col. Heidi V. Brown of El Paso assumed command of the 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade at Fort Bliss, leading about 2,000 Patriot soldiers. While hailed as the first woman in air defense brigade command, officials noted Col. Anne F. MacDonald led a combat brigade earlier, leaving Brown as the second woman to command a combat brigade.
