Police officials say 26 year old Michael Alex Porter of 1401 Dignowity was arrested and charged with theft under 50 after attempting to steal a monetary canister. Capt. Efrain Favela of the Del Rio Police Department reported the incident occurred at a convenience store on 1300 Australia.
City council member Randy Pohler accuses Mayor Roberto Chavira of pressuring Towers of Texas to donate to a local scholarship fund in exchange for tower permits and compliance certificates. The mayor admits a $1,000 donation was made by Towers of Texas president but denies soliciting funds.
Florencio P. Sauceda highlights a year of progress from 1998 groundwork to 1999 outcomes.
