Parents praise new Garfield Elementary campus opening
More than 100 parents attended orientation at Garfield Elementary as San Felipe Del Rio ISD opens the $14.3 million campus. Ricardo Avalos and Jessica Barrera praised the new school while students prepare to start Jan. 4. Parents say the flood-prone old campus near Las Vacas Street in the Chihuahua neighborhood is now behind them.
