In New York at 11 a.m. the Dow Jones average of 30 industrial stocks stood at 1,904.67, down 7.45 points as losers led gainers by nearly 13 to 5. Volume on the NYSE reached 38.84 million shares while continuing bond market slippage weighed on the market.

Several Del Rio residents attended the wedding of Sylvia Ramos to Giuseppe Lope held December 27 at St John Neumann Church in San Antonio. Guests from Del Rio and SAFE included Gil and Martha Stensrud, Jim and Sarita Hester, Capt. Angel Martinez and family, and Col Jose Martinez’s family. Sylvia and Giuseppe will reside in Southern Italy. Col Ed Ramos, now retired, calls Del Rio his best assignment.

The National Park Service presents a free program Friday at 7 30 p.m. on National Parks in Texas at NPS Headquarters Building on Highway 90 West. Kinney County officials to be sworn in Jan 1 at 10 a.m. in Brackettville courthouse, including pledge of allegiance.
Police logged numerous thefts and vehicle break ins across Avenue C Johnson Street East Gibbs Street Avenue F and surrounding areas. Items stolen included tools two lawnmowers fishing gear a television a dresser a car and rifles with values from 100 to number several incidents occurred between December and Christmas week. Violent incidents included two assaults with two arrests and several vehicle collisions with citations issued.

Florence Magaline Lile died December 22 at her home in Stillwater Oklahoma aged 65. Rites were conducted December 26 at Strode Chapel with burial in Glencoe. She worked 28 years at Stillwater Medical Center and was among its first 25 year service pins recipients. Survivors include two sons Roy Lite and Bill Lite a daughter Janice Parnell eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren plus a brother and sister. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Also noted is Ann Nguyen a sixth grader who identified a weekly mystery picture as monkey bars at Buena Vista Park Del Rio.
