Prosecutor blasts nursing home plea as farce in Galveston

Grand jury indicts Del Rio man and woman
A Del Rio man, Mario Pena, 21, and a Del Rio woman, Maria Hernandez Polson, 35, were indicted by the Val Verde County Grand Jury on burglary and reckless involuntary manslaughter charges. Pena posted a $2,500 bond. Polson posted a $5,000 bond. Pena allegedly rode in a vehicle stolen from Edward Meza, and Polson’s crash on Spur 239 west of Del Rio killed Julian Olguin Menchaca and injured three others.

T Stell Newman son of Mr and Mrs Coleman Newman formerly of Del Rio was killed in a traffic accident in Guam while employed by the National Park Service. He served as the first superintendent of The War in the Pacific National Historical Park on Guam. Rites are set for Saturday in Hawaii. Surviving wife Ginger and children Tom and Nancy. Parents Coleman and Mrs Newman of Granbury Texas. Siblings include Nick Newman of Seattle. Family members will travel to Hawaii for the funeral.
