Faye Vernor 1901 Bellmont Texas resident died Friday in Val Verde Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She is survived by Clyde L Vernor three brothers four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Chapel service at Humphreys Doran Sunday at 3 pm with the Rev Joe Watts officiating and interment in Masonic Cemetery. Irvin H Luke 102 John Glenn Jr Del Rio died Friday in Del Rio Nursing Home graveside services planned Monday at 11 am in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Jail inmate's hanging attempt halted by timely visit
In Val Verde County Jail an 18 year old inmate Jose Antonio Arispe Diaz of 410 Wernett St was found hanging in his cell around 8 p.m. Friday. A trusty delivering clothes and a relative letter minutes earlier prompted jailers Joe Cervantes and Henry Martinez to cut him down and rush him to Val Verde Memorial Hospital for observation. Diaz has been held on a $40 000 bond since Sept 1 on a charge of transporting aliens.

UVALDE David Cates will be president of the Uvalde Production Credit Association starting January 1, after a December 21 board meeting.
