Three Die In Chopper Crash Near Espine Ranch
A helicopter returning from a hunting trip crashed in heavy fog in southwest Bexar County. All three aboard were killed when the craft exploded on impact near Masterson Road, about a mile south of US 90. Evidence suggested a deer hunt return and possible mechanical failure or fuel exhaustion. One victim was a Houston peace officer, and another was related to him. identities withheld pending notices.

Woman beaten near San Felipe Creek in Del Rio critical
Muriel Naber, 31, remained in very critical condition in a San Antonio hospital after a Dec 9 beating under the San Felipe Creek bridge. Del Rio authorities warned the assault charge against her husband Steven L. Naber could be upgraded to murder if she dies. he is jailed in Val Verde County on $20,000 bond. An eyewitness said the couple was fighting under the bridge when found.

Blindness group elects Redell David Reddell president
Redell David Reddell of Dallas was elected president of the Texas Society to Prevent Blindness at its Fort Worth annual meeting. He succeeds Elvin J. Schofield of San Antonio as the 14th president, for a two year term beginning January 1, 1983. Reddell, 60, is Southwestern Bell district manager for Business Services Engineering Center and a long time Prevent Blindness volunteer.

Del Rio public schools submitted two bilingual education proposals to federal authorities for approval.
