Reagan grants extra 15 days to social security panel
President Reagan will extend the National Commission on Social Security Reform’s deadline by 15 days beyond December 31. Deputy White House press secretary Larry Speakes said the panel sought 30 days, but Reagan deemed 15 days appropriate. The bipartisan panel includes eight Republicans and seven Democrats, appointed after criticism of proposals to limit future benefits.

Vandals and thefts hit Del Rio area vehicles and bike
Complaints to Del Rio police include a shattered windshield and car stereo thefts. Francisco Venegas Sr. said his car windshield, valued at $300, was broken around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in front of El Camino Club on Las Vacas.
