Toy drive brings holiday cheer to Val Verde County
Val Verde County Sheriff's Office hosted its Project SOS Holiday Celebration drawing 200 children to the event and another 200 to a second-day gift delivery. Gifts gathered Friday outside Walmart and from community volunteers supported families from San Felipe Del Rio CISD and the migrant program in Comstock. Sheriff Joe Frank Martinez praised the drive as a safe community effort now in its first year at the sheriff's office.
