City Firemen Stay Busy After Highway Crash
Del Rio firefighters stood by at the scene of a one truck crash at the Highway 90 West and Highway 277 intersection. The 18 wheel tractor trailer, driven by Jerry Meyers, 30, of Ohio, skidded through the intersection and struck a utility pole as it traveled from Sonora toward the valley. DPS trooper Raymond Haynes described the empty truck as on its way to the valley from Sonora and involved in the incident.

Youth Led 110 MPH Chrome in 35 Mile Chase Ends in Firearm Stop
Massachusetts youth John Testa, 17, led Del Rio area troopers on a 35 mile high speed chase reaching over 110 mph before a tire was shot out near Laughlin Air Force Base, ending the pursuit. Testa, of Boston, was arrested on charges of speeding, fleeing police, driving without a license, and theft of the car in Florida. Two hitchhikers, a 17 year old girl released without charges and a 15 year old girl held by juvenile authorities, accompanied him. Testa posted a 3500 dollar bond and awaits theft charges.

Patsy Cooley withdraws her resignation and will remain Del Rio Chamber of Commerce manager. President W A Bill Schuler announced that the decision was presented to the chamber's executive committee at a Monday night meeting and reinstatement for the coming year was approved. Directors ratified the action by telephone. Cooley had planned to leave at year's end to take another position.

School Lunch Prices To Go Up in January
