Unemployment Commission reports contested payments and penalties
The Texas Employment Commission Chair Harry Benge Crozet said unemployment compensation payments faced extensive scrutiny with 582 claims contested in court this year across all categories. Of 112,615 claimants, 420 non-interns had payments contested and 139 convictions led to fines and costs. Veterans payments saw adjustments and 262 veterans affected. overall the commission processed numerous claims amid disputes and penalties.
