Connally Proposes New Texas State Budget
Gov. John Connally on a Saturday proposed a 1967-69 Texas budget of 4.66 billion dollars, needing over one billion more in appropriations and about 65 million in new taxes. The plan excludes city aid and a general teacher pay raise, and still falls 442 million short of agency requests amid education at 2.26 billion. The Budget Board suggested 4.2 billion overall with 834 million from general revenue. Connally seeks 911 million general revenue, an increase of 287 million over current levels.

Rusk Seeks More Aid for South Vietnam on Return
Secretary of State Dean Rusk, after a 22,700 mile trip through Asia and Europe, said other nations should increase aid to South Vietnam and possibly send more combat troops.
