Wall Street drifted lower as traders waited for Friday's triple witching hour. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 5.76 to 1,930.40 by midmorning with 468 issues up, 865 down and 493 unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange. volume reached 47.21 million shares.

The Air Force will publish a notice of intent to prepare an environmental impact statement early next year and hold public meetings in the Del Rio area to gather input. A draft EIS will follow with hearings, and a final site decision will await the final EIS. Until then Laughlin will use the Eagle Pass Auxiliary Air Field under the current lease with Maverick County. The field, a former Army installation, has hosted U2 and T-37 training since the 1950s and accounts for about 900 touch-and-go landings weekly by Laughlin students.

Pauline Benson 40 died December 7 at Wilford Hall San Antonio. She lived at Laughlin Air Force Base and cremation followed a December 10 service at Northside Baptist Church. Born Muskegon Michigan November 18 1940 she is survived by husband Tech Sgt Bruce Benson children Carrie Chasity Joshua Robert father James Murphy and many siblings.
