Del Rio sergeant faces trial on civil rights charge in San Antonio
Del Rio police sergeant Robert Eugene Kemper, indicted by a federal grand jury in August, stands trial in San Antonio Monday on deprivation of rights under color of law. The 10 year veteran allegedly kicked prisoner Reynaldo de la Rosa in 1987 while he was handcuffed on the station floor.

Five men indicted in multimillion marijuana seizure case
A federal grand jury indicted five Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras men on conspiracy and possession charges after an undercover agent bought marijuana from Roberto Rios Guajardo and Manuel Fuentes Cruz. Authorities found 291 pounds at a residence, and other defendants face additional counts related to the same operation. A Piedras Negras man Jesus Rodriguez Salas was also indicted for transporting 59 pounds.
